$150,000 Bail Set for Man's Eighth Theft Arrest

An Orland Park man was arrested earlier in the month for taking about $475 worth of items from Macy's without paying, according to police.

An Orland Park man is facing a felony charge after he was arrested for theft earlier in September, with seven prior convictions for theft on his record.

The Orland Park Police Department were called about a retail theft at Macy's on Sept. 5. A man was seen taking a kitchen electric juicer and two sets of Oneida silverware, and left the store without paying, according to a release from the department. The man then fled the scene in a silver vehicle, police said.

Police later tracked down Daniel J. Bingenheimer, 59, of the 15000 block of Orlan Brook Drive in Orland Park, and arrested him. He was charged with one count of felony retail theft. Police found seven prior convictions for theft on Bingenheimer's record, according to the release.

Judge Peter Felice set Bingenheimer's bail at $150,000 Friday morning on the charge, during a bond hearing at the Bridgeview Courthouse.

Police report information is provided by law enforcement agencies, including the Orland Park Police Department. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions taken on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. If you or a family member are charged or cited and the case is subsequently adjudicated, we encourage you to notify the editor. We will verify and report the outcome.
