Football: Sandburg Ousted in Rematch Against Bolingbrook

Bolingbrook 39, Sandburg 7. The defending state champions were dominant in this Class 8A playoffs matchup and got revenge over the Eagles, who beat Bolingbrook earlier in the season.

In the first round of IHSA Class 8A playoffs, the defending state champions Bolingbrook Raiders faced off against the 7-2 Sandburg Eagles. The Raiders, seeded ninth after the Eagles, were motivated to revenge the overtime loss against the Eagles just a few weeks ago.

Sandburg jumped out to a 7-0 lead and controlled the ball early. Bolingbrook struggled with turnovers and missed opportunities.

But the second half was a different game for the Raiders, as quarterback Quincy Woods and running back Jaden Huff dominated the Eagles' defense.

Scoring 33 points in the second half, the Raiders shut down the Eagles' offense for the remainder of the game. With the final score of 39-7, the Raiders move on to the next round of the state playoffs and will host undefeated Neuqua Valley, which won 56-20 against Naperville North.
