Comings & Goings: Orland Park Bakery Moves, Tinley Mattress Store Closes

A look at new businesses coming into town and a fond farewell to those that have, for whatever reason, called it quits.

Fans of Orland Park Bakery, which closed its longtime Orland Plaza location on Sunday, won’t have to wait long for the new store.

The bakery will reopen at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at its new location, 14850 S. LaGrange Road in the Dania Plaza.

The bakery will hold its grand reopening at 8 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, with a ribbon cutting, raffles for gift cards and other prizes.

For more information, visit the bakery’s Facebook page.

Mattress Store Closes in Tinley

Back to Bed mattress store closed recently at 7242 W. 191st St. in Tinley Park’s Brookside Marketplace but appears to be planning a comeback once the Tinley Blockbuster store closes later this month at 15970 S. Harlem Ave. The mattress company, with 48 locations in the Chicago area, was soliciting bids in December for interior renovations for the Blockbuster location. Calls to the company for more information were not returned.

Orland Trustees to Vote on Savers, Habachi

Orland Park trustees are scheduled to vote tonight on special-use permits for Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet and Savers.

Hibachi Grill wants to take two storefronts (about 11,000 square feet) in the Home Depot Plaza at 159th Street and Harlem Avenue. The restaurant would offer a variety of American, Chinese, Japanese and Mexican dishes and have seating for about 200. Its owner also operates Hibachi Grill locations in Matteson and Forest Park.

Savers is a for-profit thrift chain that wants to take the south end of the former Handy Andy property (about 28,000 square feet) at 156th Street and 94th Avenue. Charter Fitness, Pro-Time Billiards and Space Golf fill out the property.

Both proposals were tentatively approved by the village board last month.
