Comings & Goings: Tinley Liquors Reopens; Halloween Stores Return
Also in this week's business news, Miroballi Shoes is holding a clearance sale as the business gets ready to move into its permanent location, a martial arts studio in Tinley Park closes, Buona Beef is under construction, and more.
Labor Day not only marks the end of summer, but signals the start of the Halloween season — stores dedicated to the holiday are gearing up in both Tinley Park and Orland Park.
Halloween City at 15846 S. LaGrange Road in Orland Park will have its village inspection this week and should open soon in the former Party City store, which closed earlier this year after merging with the Party City store at 14906 S. LaGrange Road. Job applications are being accepted at the store.
A Halloween City store sign appeared last week at 16195 S. Harlem Ave., and a Spirit branch is being advertised at 16086 S. Harlem Ave., both in Tinley Park—the latter, in the former Bud's Sports Bar.
A Halloween Express store will also soon open at 15818 S. Harlem Ave. in Orland Park.
Tinley Park Liquors Reopens
Tinley Park Liquors, 7026 W. 183rd St. in Tinley Park, reopened recently though apparently with new owners.
Its previous phone numbers have been disconnected and its website and Facebook page are out of date. The store closed in the spring and for weeks displayed a “closed for inventory” sign on its front door.
One message on its Facebook page said the closing was due to a death in the family.
Martial Arts Studio Closes in Tinley
Family Martial Arts, which opened in November 2011, closed recently at 16707 S. 80th Avenue in Tinley Park.
Orland Buffet Closes
Orland Park Steak Buffet at 15615 S. Harlem Ave. has shuttered its doors. The building has been listed for sale or lease since March.
Q is Coming
The Orland Park Village Board last week approved a new Class A liquor license for Q Restaurant, which plans to open at 11379 W. 159th St. near Starbucks in the Wolf Crossing plaza.
Buona Beef Under Construction
Ground has been broken on the Buona Beef Restaurant and Catering location on 131st Street in the Southmoor Commons shopping center, said company marketing director John Gill.
“We hope to be open in early December,” Gill said.
The Orland Park Village Board approved plans for the business back in January.
Building plans call for a nearly 4,000-square-foot standalone restaurant with a drive-through.
Miroballi Shoes Preps for Move
Miroballi Shoes, one of the businesses displaced from Orland Plaza, is holding a sale through this week at its temporary location at 16131 S. LaGrange Road in Orland Park. It will be moving soon into its new home at Miroballi Plaza at 144th Street and LaGrange Road.
