Tinley OKs Tax Sharing with Toyota Dealership
Tinley Park trustees last week tentatively agreed to share sales taxes with Orland Toyota/Scion, 8505 W. 159th St., to help pay for a corporate-mandated expansion and remodeling project.
Kowalis Motors Inc., which runs the dealership, proposed an agreement that could be worth up to $1 million a year for 10 years. In essence, the deal would give the dealership one third of sales taxes above $391,895 up to $1 million.
The village has approved similar deals in the past, including one last year with Apple Chevrolet.
The dealership has been ordered by Toyota to undertake the $4 million face-lift, which is expected to begin in the spring.
