Nicholas Puccinelli, 19, of Burr Ridge, was charged Wednesday with aggravated DUI, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office. A 64-year-old Orland Park man was killed in the crash in Palos Township Tuesday.
A 19-year-old Burr Ridge man has been charged with aggravated DUI in Tuesday's crash that killed an Orland Park man.
Nicholas Puccinelli had a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit when the 2002 GMC Denali he was driving southbound in the northbound lane of La Grange Road struck a 2002 Nissan Sentra head-on near 105th Street, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office. He was charged on Wednesday.
The driver of the Sentra, a 64-year-old Orland Park man, was pronounced dead Tuesday at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to Cook County. He was reportedly on his way to work at 3:10 a.m. when he was hit by the Denali.
Puccinelli also was treated at Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was arrested by Cook County Sheriff's police. He is set to appear at 9 a.m. Thursday in Bridgeview bond court.

Again, please, DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE. A family lost their husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and sibling. A young man's life is ruined at the age of 19. His family is affected by this tragedy forever as well.
Parents: I think we should instill the "call me no matter what" rules to keep our kids safe, and to prevent our kids from making young & stupid (albeit illegal) decisions that will ultimately ruin two families' lives, forever. I would rather my teenager call me without fear of being in trouble than being the mother of the driver. Food for thought. My condolences and prayers to all involved for strength.

Don't drink and drive, call a sober friend or family member.call a cab,now members of both families are suffering because of poor judgement and results of D.U.I.I always told my teen to call me for a ride and leave the car wherever it is.

He should never be allowed to drive again.
He killed an innocent man.

Throw the book at him. I have no sympathy. Yeah, his life is ruined and too bad for his family and all that. But jeez. And BTW, why the heck do you need to drive a Denali around here? It's a monster vehicle for rough terrain and rough conditions. But I guess, bigger is better, eh? Why drive a nice sedan to work at 3 am when a drunk punk in a Denali can just ram you head on. smh

My nephew was almost killed on 151st and Lagrange Road about 2 years ago. A 19 year old on drugs and alcohol road the sidewalk and hit my nephew while he was sitting at the red light. He will never be the same because of this. According to doctors, he should of been dead or paralyzed, but he his neck healed. He is in pain most of the time, but he is alive and walking, which according to the doctors is a miracle. Since this has happened to him he has started an organization called VODDO - Victims of Drunk Driving Organization, to help people out financially, because he still had bills to pay and loans to pay and could not work for a year. He had his brother to help him thru this, but people out there dont have people to help them. My nephews name is Ronald Lugo and his story is on the internet. 151st street is a camera light and it captured the whole thing on film. My heart goes out to this family. My prayers are with the family and friends.

Not having sympathy for him (the 19yr old) is 1 thing but his family didnt do it. We cant say anything bad about them not knowing anything. Some kids are raised right but get mixed up in the wrong crowds or just do whatever they want. Its unfortunate for everyone especially the man who's life was taken. To many people are quick to judge without knowing any information. And what does it matter what anyone was driving? If he drove a smaller car he was still speeding while driving on the wrong side and drunk out of his mind...........

This 'kid' is an adult. Why in our society do we attack the family? Whatever my actions are, no one related to me is responsible. We need to start making people accountable for their own actions. This jerks family is going through a lot right now. They have to deal with the fact that their child took someone's life.
People who drive drunk or drive with excessive speed have no basic regard for life. None. They don't care if they kill someone's pet or someone's parent or someone's child.

Where are the manslaughter charges? Or can that be added later?

I also hope that the police do their job and find out who supplied the alcohol to this killer. The guy is 19, and should not have been able to legally purchase alcoholic beverages.
If it was a bar or liquor store, I hope the family sues their pants off.
If it was an individual or "friend" and they let him drive away that drunk I hope the grieving family hires the trickiest shyster out there and not only sues their pants of, but take their socks and underwear as well!

Bob - I assume if it was a bar or store that the kid used a fake id. Then there's not liability (to the store at least). If it was a friend, they may have fallen asleep and didn't know this person left their home. We need to stop pointing the finger at other people and only at the one committing the crime.

Wow, I drive this route home at night. It is not far from Orland Park Crossing. If this had happened earlier in the night, then I surley would have been on the scene. I agree with the above poster about instilling the call no matter what rule. That is what they preach in the Marine Corps. It does not always work, but it is a good rule to have established.

This moron was not only drunk but on a cocktail of drugs. He murdered an innocent loving man. A man full of love, who worked so hard for his family. This was his route to work everyday and some moron took his life away. Sorry I have no sympathy for this punk or his family, he has ruined multiple lives. This is a horrific tragedy, I saw the crash and it was unbelievable, he should have not been allowed a bond. He killed the most amazing father. Such a loving human being who didn't deserve to die like this. Justice needs to be served! Watching a grieving family, sorry I just don't have an ounce of sympathy in me for the drunk high moron

100% with you!! He made a choice, now he & his family will live with his choices. The victim who was a very loving, gracious man lost his life because of some young idiot who obviously had no regard for anyone. He has destroyed many lives!! I hope his charges change to vehicular manslaughter!!

Before anyone is sympathetic for this waste of life, know that he was not only drunk, but on multiple drugs. After loosing a wheel off the vehicle, continued driving down Lagrange rd in the wrong direction on three wheels. Now an innocent man is gone. To the victims family, you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Nothing can ever replace him but, I hope you can find comfort in many happy memories. Everyone who knew him commented on what a great person he was. You should take much pride. To the p.o.s. The next time you wanna drive in the wrong direction on three wheels, do society a favor. Take a tricycle down a set of railroad tracks in the wrong direction.

I said it before , I'll say it again. Daddy got a high-priced, high-powered lawyer. Junior got bonded out. He will likely never do time. And likely has no remorse. A similar case is working it's way thru the courts right now. Google Nicholas Sword or follow this link: http://orlandpark.patch.com/articles/man-accused-in-reckless-homicide-pass-on-plea-deal

this police officer received higher bond for the same situation....
A judge set bail at $500,000 on Sunday for a suburban Chicago police officer accused of causing a traffic accident that killed two people in a wrong-way collision on Chicago's Lake Shore Drive.
During the hearing, prosecutors said Terrell Garrett's blood alcohol content after Friday's wreck was measured at 0.184, which is more than twice the legal limit of 0.08. The North Chicago police officer is charged with two counts each of reckless homicide and aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol.

only thing the family can do is sue the crap out of them, they only know money, so take it away from them, maybe then more parents will care. I'm sorry for your lost.the system works better for the rich and lawyers, not your average person.
