It happens to the best of us.

We get busy, staying focused on our hectic routines, and suddenly you realize “today is Valentine’s Day.”

If you didn’t plan anything for your better half, think of it as an opportunity to get creative.

Ice Skating

Take your date ice skating at Centennial Park. The Sweetheart Skate starts at 6 p.m., and it’s free for all ages. Popcorn and a warm drink will be provided, and light-up roses will be available for purchase.

Romantic Dinner

Café Gaston is hosting a special candlelight dinner at the restaurant, with prime rib, creamy asparagus chicken and salmon en crout. Call for reservations at 708-403-3663.

Roccovino’s also has specials for Valentine’s Day including oysters rockefeller, filet and lobster, red snapper and veal dishes.

Heart-Shaped Pizza

Pompei Little Italy will be serving Valentine’s Day-themed food through Sunday, including heart-shaped pizzas and raviolis, as well as others. Live music will be playing from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Thursday.
