Orland Cops Catch Up to Reckless, Wheelie-Popping 'Ghost Rider'

Months after five YouTube videos were posted showing an Orland Park man weaving in and out of Orland Park traffic, speeding and taunting officers, police say they caught up to him.

A man who recklessly sped through Orland Park on his motorbike — shooting videos of himself dodging and mocking police that were later found online — was dubbed the "Orland Ghost Rider" on YouTube.

But police say they eventually caught up with 22-year-old Justin J. Jachimiec, who sped through the streets wearing a helmet camera to record the videos, and now he's charged with three felony counts.

Orland Park police were called on Nov. 19, 2011, about a motorcyclist riding recklessly near the 7300 block of Wheeler Drive. He was speeding, driving over lawns, cutting through traffic and disobeying stop signs before riding past an officer making a traffic stop, according to police.

While driving past the traffic stop, he pulled his front wheel up, sped by and taunted the officer, police said.

He also refused to stop for other officers who had turned on their emergency lights, opting to drive past the squad cars head on.

Police later found the videos on YouTube, posted under the user name “wheelerdrivebandit," where the rider is nicknamed the “Orland Ghost Rider” in the text. In the video, you can hear him mocking the police.

On March 13, an Orland Park officer saw the same man again near 159th Street and LaGrange Road around 6:45 p.m., weaving a motorcycle in and out of traffic, onto grassy areas and again refusing to stop for officers signaling him to do so, according to the police. He also drove past another officer making a traffic stop while doing a wheelie for about four blocks, police said. Police chose not to pursue because of safety risks involved with the reckless driving, police said.

The following day, however, police went to an address on Juanita Drive, gaining entry with a search warrant, and identified him through evidence as the driver in both incidents, police said.

Jachimiec, of the 15400 block of Tulip Court in Orland Park, was charged with felony possession of a stolen vehicle, driving with a suspended license, two counts of felony fleeing and eluding police and other traffic offenses.

Later, police found that the motorcycle used was reported stolen in Laona, Wis., on June 19, 2011, based on a serial number found on the bike.

Jachimiec’s bail was set at $70,000 and is scheduled back in court on April 11.

In a way YouTube is an awesome evidence repository. Love when people commit crimes and post their exploitation online. The suspects crimes are recoreded from their own point of view. Who can doubt that evidence?

Off road or on the street...this is the type behavior that gives motorcyclists in general a bum rap. There needs to be more emphasis on the positive things the motorcyclist community is involved in.

This moron has been harassing residents and endangering children in the Catalina neighborhood for way too long. His reckless driving through the streets (especially school zones at dismissal time), through baseball fields (while games and practices were going on) has been going on multiple times a week during warmer months, for well over a year. It's not only maddening to listen to (he drove up and back and around repeatedly for hours on end)-he made it dangerous for people to be out in their own neighborhood, for kids to be at the park, and at school. He was also a willful hazard to other drivers- you can see how little regard he had for them in his videos. The fact that he didn't hurt/kill himself or others is just incredible.

I'm so glad OPPD found him and got him off the street. Good for them. Good for the whole neighborhood.

Wow Sue. Had no idea he was doing this that long! Makes me even more happier they finally caught him.

With the motorcycle theft added to his list of crimes, I hope the judge throws the book at him for the maximum sentence possible. Joy riding around the streets is bad enough, but to do it an way to taunt the neighborhood and endanger so many people, especially children, makes me wonder what other mental problems he might have, and if that could have lead to more violent crimes to continue his insane need for attention.

the OPPD should be focusing on the drug crime in orland, there is way more of it and that makes me feel more unsafe than one dirt biker

carin- it doesn't effect your life when people are doing drugs then driving? it doesn't effect you when you children might be involved? Im a mother and your ignorant to the real issues going on in Orland park. You just called a 22year old a tool-bag...you "grow the hell up"

No Samantha, people's personal drug use doesn't affect me. You're now talking about DUI's which if I was involved is a different story. Just because someone is an alcoholic does not mean they will automatically drive drunk. The police cannot prevent a person from doing drugs. I've never done drugs and it wasn't because it wasn't available....every high school in America has more drugs in it than you can imagine.

You said Ghost Rider was and i quote "Awesome". I have never seen nor heard of him until his personal videos were posted here, so that's why I never did anything about it before.

You said you are a parent yet you are defending him that no one got hurt. So you would be willing to risk your own children's well being so he can have his hobby? Or maybe, you are the parent of Ghost Rider and that's why you are defending him.

Maybe you should volunteer to be a character witness for this fine gem at his court hearing.

I agree, Sue. My house is right smack in the middle of one of his favorites routes. We're a block from a park and a school- and this guy had absolutely no regard for other people. We'd watch day after day as he blew through stop signs, often on one wheel, cut through the park, through baseball fields and parking lots. He cut off drivers and weaved in and out of residential traffic. It was maddening. I'm so glad we can look forward to warm weather without this jerk.

Why don't we go to his court case in Will County on March 27th?

When is his Orland case coming up in Bridgeview?

Let's meet the parents.

Good chance to get a civic's lesson. See how a Judge handles this case.

Fat chance, everyone's too busy.

I agree his parents should do something, I just don't think other adults bitching at them for his actions is doing anyone any good. Yell at the idiot on the bike. He knows he's doing wrong. He's not 5.

Unless the video's show his face, he will get off of these charges. They can't prove it was him BEYOND a reasonable doubt!!!

@Bob - I disagree. OPPD did the arrest by the books. Got the search warrant and found the STOLEN Bike, Camera helmet and additional videos in his possesion. Not to mention, the father, who posted the picture of his daughter bound by duct tape on his facebook page wasn't in the picture either, and he wasn't let off the hook.
IT Crime experts are able to prove without a reasonable doubt what computer a posting was downloaded from. In fact, that's how I heard the OPPD located where he lived. Not to mention, you can hear him on the video, so the crime experts can also prove it was his voice. Plus I'm sure there are enough witnesses in the neighborhood who could point him out. Tie that together with all the evidence they found via a legal search warrant, and prosecutors definitely seem to have enough to prove it was him beyond a reasonable doubt.

Wow, all this 'reckless' driving and not one accident and no one hurt. I see plenty of times where people were riding 'normally' and there were accidents and people hurt. Seems some people need to reassess their understanding of the terms 'reckless' and 'normal' driving. Just because you are not able to control a motorcycle as well as he, does not mean he is reckless. I think we all need to root for the Ghost Rider. The fact that he smokes the cops is just a bonus.

I agree with Sue S. Tim - what would it take to be 'reckless' in your eyes? Him running over a child, someone's pet, damaging someone's car? Or is that all just bonus that he didn't obey the laws of the land and "smoked the police"? I don't think you'd think this was cool if your property was damaged due to this idiot.

Plus the motorcycle was stolen!??
double idiot award!

Miracle nobody was hurt over the last year!
And it wasn't beause he was a careful "wreckless driver".

Oh and thanks for posting the stunts on You Tube.
It helped in your arrest!

For the next idiot copycat trying stunts like this, pease post them for all to view.
That way we can watch them AND read about your arrest!

You people have no idea what your talking about, he didnt hurt anyone! He did NOT steal the bike, he bought it and was unaware the person he bought it from had stolen it. People do crap like this all the time and make these videos. His is hardly bad compared to most. and those of you who want to talk to his parents, shame on you. Give them there privacy during these hard times, its still there son!

no i respect life and second chances. if your stuff was damaged you would have called the cops before, there are no reports of any property damage what so ever. and if he was playing chicken with people or other bikes or cars, i would absolutely think differently, but he isn't riding by anyone other than the one cop and we all know that cop was NEVER in danger

what orland needs to do is find somewhere for these kids to go with there dirtbikes and fourwheelers, solve the problem dont make ONE kid the target and try making him an example. its not going to work, there are way to many people doing these things around here. we should have a designated place for them to ride around because regardless of what you think of the ghost rider, dirt biking and fourwheeling are fun hobby's. and incase you all were unaware, dirt bikes are STREET legal now as long as you have lights and mirrors.

He's not a kid. He's 22 years old which makes him an adult. What he needs to do is find a job.

If you watched the video, he went through more than one stop sign, cars are swerving to get out of his way. He is breaking the law.

It is not up to the taxpayers of Orland Park to provide a place for these fools to ride. Buy (or in this case, steal) a dirt bike- find your own legal place to ride.
And again- he's not a 'kid'- he's 22 years old.
Also- it doesn't matter if the bike was 'street legal'. He was behaving carelessly and recklessly, not only evading police, but taunting them as well.
I'd like to know how many months worth of police call logs you have examined, to know with such certainty that 'no one called the police'. In fact, the police were called many, many times. If you lived in this neighborhood, you wouldn't need the video to see what kind of self-centered and dangerous individual we are talking about. You'd have seen firsthand, how close he came to children on the ball field, how close he came to hitting or being hit by cars, how close he came to pedestrians and animals. His behavior is indefensible - no matter how you try to twist it.

Your arguments and excuses make no sense. I must attribute it to a lack of maturity, education, and life experience.

I agree with Sue S. Orland does not need to "find a place for kids" or adults to ride dirt bikes. If, like you say, dirt bikes are street legal, then they can responsibly driven on the streets while obeying the rules of the road and not being a public nuisance or danger to the community.

Personally knowing people who live in this area, I can guarantee you, this individual was not just someone just trying to ride his dirt bike to get from point A & B be. He took a lot of pleasure out of harrassing people and the police. And if you look at all the youtube groups he belonged to, you can see his intent was to take pride in breaking as many laws as he could to gain high praise from other law breaking motor bike riders across the country. Not to mention, all on a stolen bike.

Maybe the issue comes from no charges being pressed. If a person does something with zero consequences then how will they learn it's wrong? Logically, you would think a 22 year old would know it's wrong to steal. But if he knows nothing is going to happen to him even if he's caught, then why not do it? It seems everything he does is a childish prank. In the video he's mocking the police, there's comments regarding other drivers written in. This is his entertainment. I know he's an adult and I hate blaming parents for their grown children's actions but clearly they didn't give him enough consequences growing up.

If we all "cool our jets" for a moment we can see beyond our personalizing things. 1) Everyone has a right to their opinions, but attacking each other doesn't make anyone feel better. 2) As far as the biker: There is a reason there are laws as to where to ride, how fast, etc. My rights extend only as far as the next person's rights begin. 3) I am sorry that the actions of a 22 year old man has caused people to fear living in their subdivision or think twice about letting their children play outside safely, obviously he was not looking beyond his own self gratification. 4) There is a problem with drugs in the area, when people die or are rushed to the hospital as a result of taking drugs- it's a problem. Whether we acknowledge it or not ~ even if it has been around for decades, it is still a problem. Drugs are much more potent than they have been in the past; one time use can kill a person. A parent's fear is real because even good kids sometimes make bad decisions.

Kudos to Ghost Rider. This guy is awesome! Not reckless, total control of his bike the whole time. Just cause yall yankees drive prius's and vote for obama doesnt mean that a guy who can ride and outrun the cops is a moron. Let the law do what they do and I hope he gets back at it. Id sponsor him.

Justice served! 18 months! Hopefully, as the judge stated, he will now accept the support and guidance from his parents, and not all the other misguided dirt bikers accross the country who believe this is just harmless fun. In Illinois, it is dangerous and reckless. Not just for him and those he was riding around, but took valuable time away from the PD, that could be needed to help someone else.
