Orland Park Looking at Possible $440,000 Surplus for 2013 Budget (Live Blog Transcript)

Orland Park trustees and staff discussed proposed items for the 2013 fiscal year budget Monday night. Read through our live blog transcript from the meeting.

Update, 5:53 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012

Orland Park's proposed 2013 budget is projected to be balanced with $111,891,995 in projected revenue, and matching expenditures with about $440,000 remaining.

How that remaining money will be used will be decided at future meetings, though one of the discussed potential uses Monday night was adding two additional police officers.

The total operating expenses are expected to be $47.8 million.

The dollar amount expected from property taxes has not changed since the 2012 budget was drafted, but that does not mean tax rates will stay the same, according to Orland Park Finance Director Annmarie Mampe.

"That's up to the county," she said, about the tax rate.
