Orland Hills police reports, March 2-15
THURSDAY, MARCH 15
Heroin, Needle Recovered on Way to Hospital
Christopher E. Gorecki, 29, of the 9100 block of 167th Street in Orland Hills was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic needle. Police said they found heroin and needles on Gorecki on Jan. 27, when he was hospitalized. Criminal charges had been deferred, and he was arrested outside his home around 6:30 p.m., police said.
TUESDAY, MARCH 13
Possession of Cannabis
Atta S. Muhdi, 19, of the 15100 block of 82nd Avenue in Orland Hills was charged with possession of cannabis. Police said he was on foot patrol in the 9200 block of Hunter Drive around 9 p.m. when they smelled marijuana coming from a group of men, one of whom—Muhdi—claimed ownership over a small bag of marijuana that had been tossed on the ground.
MONDAY, MARCH 12
Possession of Cannabis
Allison R. Bartkowiak, 21, of the 16100 block of 92nd Avenue in Orland Hills was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lane usage. Police said they found a pipe, metal grinder and bottle containing marijuana after stopping her car at 88th Avenue Sherwood Drive around 1 a.m. for drifting outside her lane.
SUNDAY, MARCH 11
Parking Lot DUI
John J. Tongson, 23, of the 7600 block of 163 rd Place in Tinley Park was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and BAC of 0.08 or more. Police said Tongson failed field sobriety and breath tests after stopping his car outside the Georgio’s Comfort Inn around 4 a.m. for driving over a grassy area to get to the back of the hotel parking lot.
SATURDAY, MARCH 10
Haven Ave DUI
Constantine Hadis, 23, of the 13900 block of Grenelefe Lane in Homer Glen was charged with DUI, operation of uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage. Police said Hadis failed field sobriety tests after stopping his car at 159th Street and Haven Avenue around 2 a.m. for repeatedly crossing the lane divider.
THURSDAY, MARCH 8
Another Haven Ave DUI
Rosemarie A. Meegan, 21, of the 16000 block of Haven Avenue in Orland Hills was charged with DUI, BAC of 0.08 or more, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage. Police said Meegan failed field sobriety and breath tests after stopping her car in her driveway around 4:30 a.m. for crossing into oncoming traffic lanes and making abrupt lane changes.
SATURDAY, MARCH 3
Delayed Domestic Battery Report
Jaime Castaneda, 43, of the 8800 block of 170th Street in Orland Hills was charged with domestic battery. A woman, speaking through a Spanish interpreter, told police that on a previous day Castaneda had pushed and grabbed her inside his home. A witness vouched for the woman’s story, and Castaneda was arrested that night, following work, police said.
Zero Tolerance
Zachery J. Alexander, 20, of the 13500 block of Springview Drive in Lockport was charged with zero tolerance DUI and improper lane usage. Police said Alexander failed field sobriety tests after stopping his car at 159th Street and Ravinia for “straddling the lane divider” and making an abrupt turn at 159th Street and 94th Avenue around 2 a.m.
Burhan Ozerdinc, 18, of the 17000 block of Auburn Ridge Drive in Lockport and a juvenile, both passengers in the car, were charged with underage consumption of alcohol.
FRIDAY, MARCH 2
91st Ave DUI
Haley A. Mason, 30, of the 1300 block of McDowell Road in Naperville was charged with DUI. Police said Mason failed field sobriety tests after she was found sleeping behind the wheel of her car in the 15900 block of 91st Avenue around 2 a.m. with the engine running. A caller told police Mason’s car had been blocking a driveway.
