Orland Park Police Blotter: Police Pooch Finds Plethora of Pot, Paraphernalia

FRIDAY, FEB. 11
Retail Theft
Margo R. Flowers, 57, of the 1600 block of 103rd Street in Chicago was charged with retail theft. Security told police Flowers left a department store in Orland Square Mall around 8 p.m. without paying for a bottle of perfume. Police said she was stopped and later apologized for her actions.
Police Pooch Called
Ashley N. Bernotas, 19, of the 13600 block of Ironwood Circle in Homer Glen, was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they stopped Bernotas’ car near 153rd Street and Wolf Road just before midnight for disobeying a traffic light. A K9 was called after Bernotas admitted to having marijuana in her car and found several baggies, blunts, grinders, pipes and scales, police said.
Because “none of the rear seat passengers could agree or claim ownership,” each was considered liable for the items Bernotas hadn’t claimed. Deanna M. Kalas, 21, of the 14700 block of Cricketwood Court in Homer Glen was cited with possession of cannabis. Roberto Rivera, 20, of the 13200 block of Woodlane Drive in Homer Glen; Patrick J. Barker, 20, of the 13800 block of Sandstone Drive in Home Glen; and Steven L. Wright, 19, of the 300 block of Madison Street in Lockport, were each cited with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
FRIDAY, FEB. 10
151st St. DUI
Alyssa L. James, 21, of the 14100 block of Pheasant Lane in Orland Park was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper turning. Police said they stopped James’ car in the 9500 block of 151st Street around 2 a.m. for drifting and nearly striking a median during a wide turn. She was arrested after failing field sobriety tests, according to the report.
Damage During Theft
Lisa K. Pietrzyk, 20, of the 8500 block of Pine Street in Orland Park was charged with retail theft and criminal damage to property. Pietrzyk was questioned by police around 7:30 p.m., in her car, and identified by witnesses at a store in the 15700 block of LaGrange Road as the woman who left without paying for several bottles of perfume. Police said store surveillance footage shows Pietrzyk opening, and therefore breaking, several packages of perfume before pocketing them.
