Police Looking For Two Men in Ruse Burglary

Two men claimed to be roofers and offered to work on an elderly woman's house before one stole cash and jewelry while she was distracted, and they both fled the area Thursday afternoon.

Orland Park police are looking for two men who burglarized an elderly woman earlier Thursday afternoon, after claiming to be roofers.

The said the burglary happened around 1 p.m. in the 8800 block of Maple Drive. Two men told the woman they are roofers, and offered to work on her home, police said. One of the men then distracted her while the other entered her house and took a “large amount of cash and jewelry,” according to a release.

The men left the area in a beige vehicle resembling a mini van, police said. No one was injured.

The men are described as:

  • 5 feet 4 inches, Hispanic, about 50 years old, medium build, dark moustache, wearing a dark coat and dark knit hat.
  • Hispanic, wearing a hat and light-colored, thigh-length jacket.
