Photo Gallery: Korean War Remembered With 60th Anniversary Ceremony

The Village of Orland Park honored the Korean War veterans this Memorial Day weekend.

The honored Korean War veterans and the 60th Anniversary of the Korean War with heartfelt sentiments this weekend.

Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin proclaimed May 27 as the Korean War Commemoration Day. Wreaths were laid at the Veterans Memorial.

Inside the Village Hall buiding, a crowd gathered once more to hear from guest speakers, including Col. David Clark, the Department of Defense 60th Anniversary of the Korean War Commemoration Committee’s executive director.

"We owe a debt of gratitude we can never repay," Clark said.

Consul Jin Hyun Lee from the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea also expressed gratitude from Korea's people for the freedom they now enjoy.

A movie was played providing additional information to the guests. Exhibits were set up for visitors to learn more about the history changing war in Korea. Cookies and cold water were also served after the hour long memorial.
