Trio Charged in Sandburg Theft of $10,000 Cash May Take Plea Deal
An attorney said three women charged with stealing nearly $10,000 in cash from Sandburg High School may take a plea agreement on Friday, Dec. 14.
Three women charged with felony theft after being accused of stealing $10,000 cash from Carl Sandburg High School may take a plea agreement, their attorney said after a brief status hearing on the case Wednesday.
Linda Nassar, 36, and Sally Quaraveh, 22, both of Worth, and Sabrina Yassin, 20, of Orland Park, are accused of stealing cash from the high school’s cashier’s office on Sept. 5. The women were there to register Nassar's son for school, according to a release from the Cook County State's Attorney's Office.
Out on bond, all three appeared in Judge John J. Hynes courtroom for Wednesday's hearing. They are represented by attorney James I. Stepanek.
Stepanek, Hynes and prosecutors are set to discuss a possible deal on Friday.

"I don't know what the actual parameters of the possible agreement may be," Stepanek told Patch outside the courtroom. "We'll know something further on Friday."
Before concluding the hearing, Hynes warned the women that they are to stay away from Sandburg until the conclusion of the case. Prosecutor Debbie Lawler said Yassin had been seen at the high school and was sent a letter by school officials.
"If you go to Carl Sandburg High School, you are looking at violation of your bail bond," Hynes told the women. "You are looking at getting your bond revoked and possibly jail time. Do you understand that?"
The women all answered affirmatively. Nassar, who communicates in sign language, was given a court interpreter for the hearing.
They are scheduled to be back at the Bridgeview courthouse at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14.
