Whole Foods in Orland Park has opened.
The new 27,500 square-foot grocery store opened with a bread-breaking ceremony outside the main entrance Friday morning, where hundreds of people waited for the doors to open.
With a DJ playing songs, Whole Foods staff and Orland Park officials tore pieces off a large braided loaf of bread before opening the doors to the new store.
Crowds continued to visit and shop well into Friday night.

I work in Willowbrook and shop very frequently at the Whole Foods store there. Really elated that there is one so close to home now!!!

It's a grocery store. I understand that it is trendy and the flavor of the month. But it is a grocery store. And an overpriced one to boot. It looks like we have decided to stop dealing with important issues when the most exciting event of the week is a grocery store opening. A grocery store.

The fact that Whole Foods opens up a store in our area should be welcomed. They look to see what areas have the disposable income to support their stores before they open one up. It is an indicator as to the economic health of our area and will only improve the home values in its vicinity. Besides, there was a bigger deal made about the closing of Randy's market and that was a grocery store as well.

Ok, it is 27,000 square feet, almost half the size of the Hinsdale Whole Foods at 54,000 square feet. One of the many reason why I love Whole Foods is for the produce. It feels like the produce department in this store is an after thought. It is very, very small. I was also disappointed by the sushi. I bought two things of it. The rice was not soft but somewhat crunchy.
