Cook County State's Attorney to Dine with Local Ladies

Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez will speak at a gathering of south suburban women Friday, Aug. 16.

The Abby Foundation will host its 28th Annual Women Together Luncheon at the Tinley Park Convention Center on Friday, August 16. The guest speaker this year is Cook County State's Attorney, Anita Alvarez.

The first female and first Latina elected to the post of Cook County State’s Attorney, she is also the first career prosecutor ever elected to this important public safety position. Alvarez leads the second largest prosecutor’s office in the nation, managing an office of nearly 1,600 attorneys and administrative employees. In addition to the direct prosecution of all felony and misdemeanor crimes throughout Cook County, the office files legal actions to enforce child support orders, assists thousands victims of domestic violence each year and litigates on behalf of consumers and the elderly.

Each luncheon attendee will receive an informational program that contains an A to Z listing of area organizations. The Women Together Luncheon exhibit area (for local businesses and nonprofit organizations) opens at 9 a.m. and runs until noon.  The luncheon begins promptly at noon. Luncheon tickets are $40 each and available to purchase on the Abby Foundation’s website.
