What's Happening at the Bridge Teen Center This Week?

The Orland Park-based community center offers real life guidance before students head to college, and more throughout the week.

Have you ever thought that your decisions, say as a teenager, might be just a little bit different if you knew then what you know now?

Parents, have you ever tried explaining such bits of hindsight knowledge to your teenager, only to be met with resistance?

Don’t worry. You’re far from alone.

The Bridge Teen Center was founded over three years ago in Orland Park to help fill gaps in real life knowledge young people are often left with upon their exit from teen years. The center offers an eclectic array of programming, teaching everything from cooking on a budget, to martial arts, exercising, music and media production, art and much more.

This week, they are preparing teens for college, but not with SAT or ACT tests. Working with Governors State University, volunteers at the Bridge will help students with admission, stretching a student-sized budget, ironing a shirt and more.
