District 230 Students Honored by Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart

The Orland Park students of District 230 were the highlight of this year's Cook County Sheriff's Youth Service Medal of Honor Presentation Ceremony, held at the UIC Forum in Chicago.  Sheriff Thomas J. Dart awarded 350 Medals of Honor this year to students from across Cook County, with 149 of those medals going to Orland Park students primarily from Carl Sandburg High School.

Service awards are granted to students who have participated in over 100 hours of community service beyond what is required for graduation, within one year.  This year's honorees volunteered their time during the 2012-13 school year.  In addition to Sandburg being well represented in honor recipients, the Carl Sandburg High School Chamber Singers provided the entertainment for the evening, welcoming the honorees and guests with national anthem and later sharing songs of the holiday season.

Congratulations to these outstanding students, who have demonstrated their desire to give back to their community in many different ways!
