Sixth Annual Gridiron Golf Classic is Just Weeks Away!!

The weather is perfect for a day on the greens...and our Annual Orland Park Gridiron Golf Classic is ready to provide you with the best experience of a day of golf and festivities on Thursday, June 27th! The Sandburg High School Football and Pioneer Youth Football programs are once again partnering to host the Sixth Annual Orland Park Gridiron Golf Classic on Thursday, June 27th, at Silver Lake Golf Course. This event has truly grown into one of Orland Park’s premiere golf outings, attracting more than 200 golfers and sponsors from throughout the Chicago area! This year’s event will prepare our golfers in the morning with a complimentary continental breakfast sponsored by Great Harvest Bread Company. All golfers receive “goody” bags, sponsored by Tuesday Morning, which contain a wide variety of items from local vendors, including this year’s Gridiron Golf Classic T-shirt (with all sponsors listed on the back!). A 10:00am shotgun start officially begins the outing. On the course, our golfers are treated to the tastes of many of our area’s great restaurants, including Buffalo Wild Wings, Papa Joe’s, Rocco Vino’s, and more! Complimentary beverages will be offered throughout the course and at designated beverage pavilions. A 19th Hole Cocktail Reception welcomes our golfers back and joins them with dinner guests, while perusing the many attractive Raffle items and this year’s LIVE and Silent Auction options! Our event closes with a fabulous dinner prepared by the Silver Lake chefs, while enjoying the musical entertainment of Nino Folino, and a LIVE Auction offering the most sought after items! While the events on June 27th provide a great opportunity for golfers, sponsors, and guests to mingle and enjoy the festivities, this event has an important purpose—to raise much needed financial support for each of the football programs, as well as contributing a percentage of monies raised for local charities. In 2012, $35,000 was raised for our football programs, and $10,000 for our local Charities, including Misericordia and Erin's AAIM. These charities are particularly important to our Pioneer and Sandburg communities. Each year both our high school and youth football programs must be prepared with the proper safety equipment for our players and training for our coaches. Money raised helps defray the cost of purchasing new safety and training equipment. In addition, this monetary support is used to defray football camp costs our Sandburg Varsity players attend each summer.
