JOLIET, Ill. – June 28, 2013 – CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Will County held its first annual “Golf for the Child” Classic on June 28 at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont. Funds from the outing go directly to the nonprofit organization, which serves abused and neglected children in the Will County juvenile court system. Event organizers were very pleased with the turnout and dollars raised for this inaugural event.

The day’s festivities included an 18-hole scramble tournament as well as on-course prizes and games (Hole-In-One, Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, Longest Putt Contest and more). Chicago-based Argus Brewery provided samples of Jarrett Payton’s All American-Wheat Ale throughout the outing for golfers to enjoy.

After the tournament, participants attended a post-golf cocktail reception and auction emceed by board member and co-host of “The Friends Over Fifty Show”, Ed Kerfin and his on-air partner Ross Novak. Items present at the auction included signed professional sports jerseys and framed photos, along with gift baskets and sporting event tickets. Jarrett Payton, son of football legend Walter Payton, gave a motivational speech before auctioning off a memorabilia piece highlighting his late father’s 1993 induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
