Silver Cross hosts a variety of health programs in March

Silver Cross will offer the American Heart Association’s Heartsaver CPR and AED Class Monday, March 3, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. in Silver Cross Hospital’s Pavilion A, Conference Center, 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox. Participants will learn adult, child and infant CPR, rescue from choking, and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).  Fee is $45 and includes American Heart Association certification.  Visit www.silvercross.org or call 1-888-660-HEAL (4325) to register.

 

Living Well with Diabetes

According to the American Diabetes Association, over 25.8 million people in the United States have diabetes.  On Tuesday, March 11, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dr. Ramaraja Yalavarthi, internal medicine and geriatrics physician, will discuss the causes, diagnosis and methods to manage this chronic disease.  Participants can also have their blood glucose checked between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. This free program and screening will be held in the Silver Cross Hospital Conference Center, 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., Pavilion A., New Lenox.  Register to attend at www.silvercross.org or call 1-888-660-HEAL (4325).

Obesity & Your Health: Is Weight Loss Surgery Right for You? 

Looking to lose weight? Join Drs. Sleep Vs. No Sleep

Dr. Philip Leung, Medical Director of the Silver Cross Sleep Disorders Center, will discuss snoring and its relationship to various illnesses and diseases on Tuesday, March 4, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.  Participants will learn how to distinguish if snoring is a serious health problem and about new treatments available.  This free program will be held in the Silver Cross Hospital Conference Center, 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., Pavilion A, New Lenox. Treatment of Breast Cancer

According to the American Cancer Society, in 2013 an estimated 232,340 new cases of invasive breast cancer was diagnosed among women, as well as an estimated 64,640 additional cases of in situ breast cancer.  Join Grace K. Suh, M.D., clinical associate at the University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center at Silver Cross, for a discussion on how the occurrence of breast cancer has changed over time and a look at new therapies used to treat this ancient disease.  This free program will be held Tuesday, March 25, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Silver Cross Hospital Conference Center, 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., Pavilion A, New Lenox.  Register to attend at www.silvercross.org or call 1-888-660-HEAL (4325).
