"Many of our parents asked me that question," said Janet Kuester, director of The Music Connection.

"Actually, last year, the team invited us to play" said Kuester, "I explained that we teach the string instruments and that it would be a pure and quieter sound on the baseball field." "They were all for it and took extra time to set the microphones so that sound would be optimal."

“This year, the Slammers required a full application and DVD, which we had and we were again selected to perform."

"I love that we played the National Anthem this August," said Ana Simonovska, who is the private and group teacher for many of the students who performed, "the students know that they must practice hard because all bowings had to be matching and music had to be memorized. Learning this was a great motivator this summer! The kids rocked; they were awesome!"

Gretel Mink Hansen was joined by two young Music Connection students, Ethan and Annie Villasenor, who helped sing the anthem. "Both of these students love to sing and I have known them since they took their first preschool Music in the Box class with me. Ethan has also become a very good pianist and Annie is excelling in cello as well."
