Liberty Run and Walk: An Independence Day Weekend Race

The Orland Park Recreation Department's annual Liberty Family Fun Run and Walk drew over two hundred participants, young and old, at Centennial Park on Friday.

Friends and family gathered around the finish line of the 2-mile Liberty Family Fun Run & Walk, some holding signs, or cameras in hand and all cheering for their favorite runner.

Mike Sawyer, a 17-year-old Sandburg student crossed the finish line first, quickly followed by 20-year-old Alyssa Poremba of Bridgeview. Awards were given out for several age groups. All participants and their families were treated to post race refreshments courtesy of the Orland Park Recreation Department and Qdoba.
