The Orland Park Public Library will reopen Wednesday after water pipes burst Tuesday, causing water damage.
Pipes burst near the second floor teen area and near the foyer causing some damage to materials, computers and furniture.
Per village requirements, the library's sprinkler system will be disabled while the water system is fixed. The teen area will be cordoned off while the area is repaired.
Programming is expected to continue as planned.
The Orland Park Public Library is closed on Tuesday after burst pipes caused water damage within the building.
“It caused pretty significant damage,” said library spokesperson Bridget Bittman. “It will take some time to clean up.”
Water pipes burst near the teen area on the library’s second floor around 9:10 a.m., Bittman said. Patrons were asked to leave. Clean up efforts are underway.
A decision hasn’t yet been made about whether the library will be open Wednesday.
