Orland Park's Queen of Scream's New Halloween Haunt

For the last 13 years, Yvonne Shurley has produced an elaborate Halloween haunt on her front lawn for anyone to visit for free. This year's version has a lot of new features intended to scare, like a crematorium and a revamped crypt.

Yvonne Shurley enjoys scaring people.

She gets the opportunity to scare hundreds of people who stop by her house at 17404 Deer Creek Drive in Orland Park throughout the three weeks leading up Halloween. With the help of Oak Forest handyman Randy Seeman, and Delights in Mokena working lighting, the haunt grows year after year. While Yvonne will spend the nights in costume as a character either in one of the house’s windows, or out in the crypt, while husband Ralph Shurley keeps watch over the haunt and hands out candy.

Over the last decade, Yvonne Shurley has built a massive collection of props, masks, statutes, animatronic figures, smoke machines, lighting and downright ghastly pieces, such as Chomp (a blood-spouting demon with a giant, toothy jaw).
