It’s time for some warm weather and local arugula.

We can’t make any promises that it will ever actually feel like spring for more than a day at a time in Chicago, but at least we can look forward to the start of farmers market season in the Southland.

Evergreen Park

7 a.m. to 1 p.m., every Thursday from May through October at Yukich Field, 89th and Kedzie Avenue. 

Flossmoor

8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Fridays June 13 through October 17. Held in Flossmoor Public Library at 1000 Sterling Ave. Call 708-798-2300 or 708-798-3600, or visit www.flossmoor.org.

Frankfort

10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sundays April through October. Held at Oak and Kansas Streets in downtown Frankfort. Visit frankfortcountrymarket.org/

Homewood

Lemont

Opens Tuesday, June 3, runs 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Located in Talcott Square Parking Lot (Stephen and Talcott streets).

Mokena

New Lenox

Oak Forest

7 a.m. to noon, Saturdays June through October, at Oak Forest Metra Station, 4850 W. 159th St.

Oak Lawn 

7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays in May through October, at 52nd and Cook avenues; 708-499-7744 or oaklawn-il.gov. No market second Wednesday in September. 

Orland Park

7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays, June 6 to Oct. 3 (excluding July 4 and Aug. 1), at Orland Park Village Center, 14700 Ravinia Ave. Market features bi-monthly chef demos on sustainable and healthy living.
