Trampoline Takes Flight, and other Storm Damage in Orland

How did your yard and area fare in Monday's storms? Share your photos with Patch.

Powerful storms with winds up to 80 mph ripped through the south suburbs Monday night, leaving a mess of toppled trees, downed wires and other damage.

One reader captured this trampoline lifted from its yard and wrapped over a power line on 104th Avenue.

I agree John, live right near there and heard it. It was faint but since we heard about it beforehand, got text alerts on our phones, and were watching it on the news as it was happening it wasn't a surprise at all. Not sure what people want exactly if you have your AC running and all your doors and windows closed. Turn it up enough to make everyone hear it in their sleep in a bunker and the people living next to the siren not only won't hear it...they won't hear anything ever again.

Well, then let's agree to disagree because I am a block away from the siren and didn't hear it during the storm, but it was loud and clear yesterday during the test with my AC running. I was specifically listening for it Monday night wondering why it wasn't going off. Perhaps it's time to stop criticizing people for not hearing it and checking out what happened.

All those who claimed to hear a siren....you were hearing another town's siren....not Orland's http://orlandpark.patch.com/groups/police-and-fire/p/lack-of-sirens-prompt-closer-look-at-orland-park-storm-warning-policy

I'd love to know what the qualifications are for OP to run the sirens. Seems to me that conditions were about as close as possible without an actual tornadic touchdown. My annoyance was less with those saying they didn't hear the siren and more with those who claim helplessness. After the news reports on every TV station I had the kids downstairs just to be safe.

Well ... this is a story from the Triblocal that states they did not sound the alarms ... you must have heard the neighboring towns. I knew I didn't hear Orland's sirens. I sure hope that they figure out what is going on with their trained weather watchers. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/suburbs/orland_park_homer_glen/ct-orland-emergency-notification-tl-ssw-0710-20140708,0,6230849.story
