Listen to veterans' stories of combat, military life on SXU's new radio program

What: "Veteran Matters," a new 10-part radio series on Saint Xavier University's student-run radio station WXAV 88.3 FM.

 

Who: Military veterans, including some current SXU students and faculty members, from World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts will share their experiences. Interviewees include: Norm, who survived a kamikaze attack while working in the engine room of the U.S.S. Bunker Hill during World War II; Joan, a 92-year-old military nurse who served during World War II; Buck, a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam era; and Andy, who served in Korea, Germany, and Iraq.

When: The series begins at 9 a.m. on Sun., April 22. The 10-part “Veteran Matters” series will air in two segments, on Sundays from April 22 through May 20, and during August through September later this year.

 

More info: The initial program will introduce all the veteran interviewees whose stories will be featured in subsequent programs. The programs that follow will focus on combat experience, military life, nursing in combat zones, and one veteran’s battle experience at sea during WWII.
