The Palos Village Players will present their spring play LAURA at 7:30 PM on May 13, 14, 20 & 21 and at 2 PM on Sunday, May 15 in the Palos Park Recreation Center, 8901 W. 123rd Street. LAURA is a murder mystery written by Vera Caspary and George Sklar, based on the novel by Ms. Caspary. It was also a classic 1944 movie starring Gene Tierney and Dana Andrews. In the Players’ production Chris Demian (Oak Forest) plays detective Mark McPherson who is called in to investigate the supposed murder of beautiful Laura. He proceeds to fall in love with her when he sees her portrait and learns more about her. When Laura, played by Meghan Sterling (Palos Park), actually appears later, very much alive, it is learned the dead woman was really Laura’s best friend (and rival). The evidence then points to Laura’s guilt. When McPherson is about to pin the crime on his beloved Laura, the real murderer shows his hand. Others in the play include: Wally Roche (Hometown), Ryan Bell (Mokena), Sarah Callis (Orland Park), Bill Petritsch (Palos Park), and Bruce Fredrick and Emily Portner of Tinley Park. The director is David Groebe of Lemont and his assistant director is Jim Sharp of Orland Park.
