Village of Orland Park Theatre Troupe to Hold Auditions for "The Nerd"

The Village of Orland Park Theatre Troupe invites area adults age eighteen and older to audition for its fall comedy, “The Nerd,” written by Larry Shue. There is one part available for a ten to thirteen year old boy.

Auditions will be held Monday, July 30 and Tuesday, July 31 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Orland Park’s Old Village Hall, 14413 South Beacon Avenue. Readings will be from the script and once cast, participants must pay a registration fee.

Set in Terre Haute, Indiana in late 1979, “The Nerd” tells the story of an unassuming young architect, Willum Cubbert, and his unexpected houseguest, Rick, who had saved his life in Vietnam. Willum is hosting a dinner party for his boss when Rick shows up. The visitor turns out to be an incredibly inept, hopelessly stupid “nerd” who outstays his welcome with a vengeance.
