Two Injured in Accident at 167th and LaGrange Tuesday

A two-car accident closed two directions of traffic at the 167th Street and LaGrange Road intersection Tuesday, and resulted in injuries.

The cars were heading north and south on LaGrange Road when they struck head on around 11:30 a.m., according to the Orland Fire Protection District. The two drivers were taken to Silver Cross Hospital for non life-threatening injuries, according to Orland Fire Battalion Chief Nick Cinquepalmi. No one else was in the vehicles.

Both cars were left with heavy front end damage and had come to a stop in the southwest corner of the intersection, leaving heavy debris on the roadway.

Traffic was blocked going south on LaGrange Road past 167th Street, and west on 167th from the intersection, though LaGrange opened up about 30 minutes after the accident. The whole intersection was clear as of 1 p.m. Tuesday

A message left with the Orland Park Police Department about possible charges pending and other specifics from the accident was not returned Tuesday.

Orland Park and Orland Hills police officers assisted at the scene.
