Centennial, High Point Collect for Ronald McDonald House

Centennial and High Point Schools have each recently shown their support for the Ronald McDonald House Charities through outstanding collections of pop tabs and home goods.

Centennial and High Point Schools have each recently shown their support for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. At Centennial, students and staff were busy throughout April collecting pop tabs, which the charity recycles for financial contributions. Students and staff brought in an astounding 222 pounds of pop tabs in just four weeks, in addition to games, toiletries, and other items for the Oak Lawn house. Because of their outstanding efforts, Centennial students were treated to a visit by Ronald McDonald himself, accompanied by a program representative. They thanked the students for their collection and also shared fun tips for staying fit and active. At High Point, students who collected the most pop tabs were treated to a pizza luncheon served by Principal Cheryl Foertsch and Assistant Principal Nancy Stachura. Students of teachers Jillian Wojcik and Amy Kenny were honored to be chosen to be photographed with a number representing a specific date of the organization's countdown to their newest house. Their photo for Day 62 is featured on the Ronald McDonald House website. The students researched charities and community service as part of their class work and helped High Point collect over 200 pounds of pop tabs.
