Pompei Reopening as Davino's with New Hours

The Orland Park Italian restaurant will be closed for about a week to undergo minor renovations in the dining room, and while hours will be different, the menu will mostly remain unchanged.

Pompei Little Italy in Orland Park will reopen in about a week with a new name and new hours.

Davino’s Restaurant will be the new name at 8801 W. 143rd Street with a tentative reopening date of Wednesday, Sept. 12. The menu of Italian staples, including house made pastas, pizzas, salads, sandwiches and pizza strudels will mostly remain the same, though more specials will be part of Davino’s. The name comes from owners Rosemary and Ralph Davino, son and daughter-in-law of Luigi Davino, who opened the first Pompei on Taylor Street in 1909.

The most significant change to the restaurant will be reduced hours. Davino’s will be open Wednesday through Sunday 4 p.m. until closing time, which will usually be between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., said manager Kim DiPofi.

“We’re taking what was working from Pompei and making it a dinner restaurant,” DiPofi said. “We still will have delivery and take out during dinner hours. We also still will offer banquets and catering. We just found it just didn’t pick up during lunch hours.”
