Uncle Julio's Opens in Orland Park After Together We Cope Fundraiser

The new Mexican restaurant opened to the public Monday, after a sold out fundraiser dinner for the Tinley Park non-profit on Friday.

Uncle Julio’s Fine Mexican Food opened its newest location in Orland Park Monday.

The 10,000 square-foot restaurant, with a bar and outdoor patio seating, is the Texas-based chain’s 18th restaurant. Located at 15845 S. LaGrange Road, in the former Harrison’s space, the restaurant seats about 350 people.

Uncle Julio’s held a fundraising dinner Friday night for Together We Cope, a Tinley Park-based non profit that operates a food bank and resale store, and provides various homelessness prevention services.

The evening was sold out, with 185 tickets sold at $25 each. Uncle Julio’s also made a $2,500 donation to the organization, and additional funds came through a silent auction and raffle.

The restaurant offers Mexican staples such as ceviche, chile rellenos, guacamole and tacos, but also includes grilled frog legs, smoked ribs, bacon-wrapped shrimp and quail. Tamales, enchiladas, chimichangas, burritos and fajitas are also available, as well as several different margaritas. The restaurant’s signature drink is the Swirl Margarita, which mixes frozen sangria and frozen margarita.
