The Illinois Association of SkillsUSA held its 50th annual Leadership and Skills Conference in Springfield, Illinois on April 3– 5.  The conference leadership and skill events were held at the Prairie Capital Convention Center, the Capital Area Career Center, the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel, Robert Morris College and Springfield Hilton Hotel.  The nearly 1,800 registered participants are supported by an additional nearly 300 business and industry, organized labor and educational professionals who will supervise and judge the competition and provide technical support.

Sandburg students participated in 4 areas of competition, Automotive Service Technology, Cabinetmaking, Clothing Construction, and Computer Maintenance Technology.  All students had to take qualifying exams before being allowed to compete at the state level.

Automotive Service Technology:

                        Alex Marneris – 3rd Place 

                        Arthur Murzydlo – 6th Place 

                        Omar Sadat – 28th Place 

 

            Cabinetmaking:

                        Robert Caridi – 2nd Place 

                        Michael Raffetry – 10th Place

                        Ralph Pinto – 13th Place 

                        David Salazar – 15th Place 

 

            Clothing Construction:

                        Sarah Karstens – 3rd Place

           

            Computer Maintenance Technology:

                        Brendan McWilliams – 2nd Place

                        Ryan Turcotte – 4th Place 

                        Jacob Meier – 5th 

                        Nyle Garcia – 6th 

                        Glen Schmidt – 13th 

                        Brad Caputo – 22nd 

                        Joseph Ruzevich – 26th
