Jim Caliendo, Head Boys Swimming and Water Polo Coach at Sandburg has been honored by the National High School Coaches Association as their National Water Polo Coach of the Year.
Coach Caliendo, an Illinois Hall of Fame Swimming and Water Polo Coach, adds this national award to a long list of impressive coaching credentials. His 34 years of coaching (20 years at Sandburg) has produced 5 State Championships, an overall record in water polo of 658-232 (426-155 at Sandburg), 3 consecutive years of winning both the state swimming and water polo state championships, and producing over 70 All-American/All-State Performers.
