MONDAY

Five Indiana men were accused of felony mob action, among other charges, during a Monday afternoon court appearance. Two men who prosecutors say were targeted in the Ashford House attack were charged separately.

Matt Veldman scored four goals and chipped in three assists as Sandburg defeated Lockport 10-4 to place third in the IHSA boys state water polo tournament Saturday in Lincolnshire.

WEDNESDAY

Brandon Spiller was hospitalized after his "European Heritage Group" was set upon in Tinley Park by a mob of "anti-racist" attackers. He has "no idea why" anyone would want to hurt him or his newfound friends. "They terrorized us," he says.

After a quiet and discouraging day for a Tinley Park business owner whose restaurant was the site of a brutal attack over the weekend, community members didn't hesitate to show their support on Monday.

THURSDAY

Ken Brucki, who has worked for the Pleasantview Fire Protection District since 1994, was named chief of the Orland Fire Protection District after a yearlong search.

Restaurant is planning to open up in the current Jos. A. Bank space within Orland Square Mall by the end of the year.

FRIDAY

The Orland Park man couldn't make it to his Cook County court hearing on Thursday because he was sitting in McDonough County jail for breaking the terms of a bail posted in 2010.

Joanne Chavez-Buchanan filed a suit with the Cook County Circuit court claiming retaliatory discharge from the Orland Fire Protection District, after a similar federal lawsuit was thrown out.

Supporters, participants and all around fans came to the Bridge Teen Center Saturday to celebrate the organization's two year anniversary of creating safe, fun and enriching programming for after school.
