MONDAY

Basking in songs from the late 1930s, about 250 people came to help the Orland Park Public Library celebrate the milestone.

TUESDAY

A Will County man and a woman stole a car from an employee at an Orland Park restaurant late Monday night. Police are still searching for the man.

At the latest CARE135 meeting Monday, D135 Interim Superintendent Dennis Soustek described how the school board is pushing for state legislation that makes background checks mandatory for school board candidates.

WEDNESDAY

One man was taken out of the home while the fire was burning, but he was treated and released at the scene. Firefighters were able to save two other cats.

The Orland Fire Protection District board appointed a new physician for yearly firefighter physicals, though one board member said he was out of the loop.

THURSDAY

The Orland Park resident thought he was talking to a 13-year-old girl but actually was chatting online with an undercover police officer in Iowa.

A Woodriver woman is charged with a felony after she was found near a car stolen by a man using a BB gun to threaten the car owner.

FRIDAY

Avoid trouble spots along Chicago-area interstates during your 4th of July travels.

SATURDAY

The Orland School District 135 Board of Education still has to make the final call, but if they agree with the administrators’ recommendations, Jerling will see fresh faces at the helm in the fall.
