Metra Entrance Closed and Other Construction Details About 143rd Street and LaGrange Road

IDOT also will be resurfacing 143rd west of Southwest Highway to Wolf Road, with daytime lane closures.

Limited traffic patterns will continue around and near the 143rd Street and LaGrange Road intersection. Plan for delays and look for detours to avoid the back ups.

Northbound LaGrange Road

No left turns from northbound LaGrange Road to westbound 143rd Street.
Use the following detour to head west on 143rd Street:

  • 147th Street or 144th Place west to Ravinia Avenue, north to 143rd Street

Left northbound traffic lane closed beginning south of 144th Place

To head east on 143rd Street, use this alternate route:

  • 147th Street or 144th Place east to John Humphrey Drive, north to 143r Street

Southbound LaGrange Road

  • Both southbound lanes shifted left at the Southwest Highway overpass – shift ends at 144th Place
  • No dedicated left turn lanes are at the 142nd Street and 143rd Street intersections
  • Left turns are allowed at both intersections as traffic allows

LaGrange Road Metra Access

The 143rd Street Metra Station parking lot entrance from LaGrange Road is expected to be closed until Thursday, Sept. 22. Use the 143rd Street entrance west of Orland Plaza (a.k.a. Main Street).

Plaza Service Road Access

Access to 143rd Street will be permanently closed from the Orland Plaza western service road on Monday, Sept. 19. Plaza service access will be temporarily limited to the opening off of 143rd Street that lines up with Jefferson Avenue. That access is expected to continue until late September, when traffic heading south on LaGrange Road is shifted to new pavement.

143rd Street Resurfacing between Wolf Road and Southwest Highway

IDOT is working on a repaving and patching project on 143rd Street west of Southwest Highway to Wolf Road. Work will require daytime lane closures with flaggers directing traffic. Drivers are asked to be patient and plan for delays or take other routes. The project is expected to be finished in late October.
