Eagles Hockey Captures Big Wins

Big early season victories have both Eagles Hockey Club teams gaining confidence, and respect within the state.

The Eagles Hockey Club coaching staff, consisting of coaches Matt McCurrie, Dan Sechrist, Matt Opyd, Chris Moore, and Scott Wienski, are leading the way to a great start. Although it is early in the season, the club has won a couple of big games against very good state teams.

The Eagles' varsity team remained unbeaten last night by traveling to Buffalo Grove, and knocking off a solid perennial, Stevenson High School 5-2. The varsity also were coming off a state noticing 3-1 victory, over local powerhouse New Trier Green on Tuesday night in Winnetka. As mentioned, it is early, however, the varsity is establishing a team to be reckoned with, and respected as one of the state's better hockey teams in the Chicagoland area.

The Varsity are currently 6-0-1 at the start of this season. The Junior Varsity is also still unbeaten, as they skated past Stevenson also last night with a come from behind 3 goal 3rd period surge. Trailing the first two periods 2-0, the JV Eagles lit the lamp for a 3-2 victory. Currently with 5-0 record will face Nequa Valley tonight, at the Arctic Ice Arena, in Orland Park. They will play a big matchup, and a local rivalry against the Providence Celtics, at Arctic Ice Arena, on Saturday night. They end a busy weekend in Naperville on Sunday to face Waubonsie Valley.
