The Eagles Hockey Club soars in the MotorCity

Last weekend the Eagles hockey team landed in Detroit, Michigan. Both teams did very well, as the JV team narrowly missed a chance to compete for the championship.

The Varsity team, led by tournament MVP, senior goaltender Taylor Dignan, brought home the Motown Cup, and tournament championship. The Motown Cup Tournament featured high school level teams, along with Eagles, coming from Michigan, and Ohio. Not only does the tournament feature great competition that kept the Eagles tuned up for regular season play in the Illinois West, but gave the players a great chance to get to know each other a bit more off the ice.

The Eagles return to league play this weekend. The JV bring their unbeaten record to the Arctic Ice Arena in Orland Park, on Friday night to play Marist High School at 7pm. They will go to Darien ice Arena on Sunday for another matchup with York High School. This is the second meeting between these teams, with the Eagles topping them 5-2 last week in Addison.

It will also be a very busy weekend for the Varsity team, as they also rematch York High School on Friday night, in Addison at 8:40. The Varsity were also victorious in their first meeting with York by a score of 7-4.

On Saturday at 9:10 pm they will debut at home in Orland Park, at the Arctic Ice Arena. This will game 1 of a home and home series, with Bartlett/ Wheaton,as both teams will face off against each other again Sunday evening, at the All Seasons Ice Rink in Naperville at 8:10pm.
