What If They Gave A Farce And Nobody Came

I never actually saw someone stood up at the altar before, but tonight I got a taste of it. There they sat, Tom Cunningham, Tina Zekcich and Ann Gentile waiting and waiting. There were about a hundred or so people sitting in the audience, also waiting. And hoping for a very different outcome.

  From the beginning, it was known that the wild card in this was Mary Bragg. If she showed up, the board would have a quorum and a big middle finger would have been pointed right at all of those mean voters who decided that a change was needed. Depending on who was chosen (the odds-on favorite was John Fotopoulos) it would have also been a slap at mayor McLaughlin who backed the four newcomers.

  I couldn't imagine why they thought that Mary Bragg would throw away eight years of good will and join them in their little charade, but they apparently did. And they waited and waited.

  It wasn't as if she was an ally or anything. In fact, when we served together  Bragg and Cunnigham couldn't stand each other. Bragg was totally marginalized by the soon to be former majority. And now they want to take one last slap at the district they once swore to serve. And they need Mary Bragg to pull it off.

  I can't imagine why they thought Mary Bragg would join in the fiasco. I don't think that the Ghastly Trio would risk embarrassing themselves unless they thought Bragg was in their corner. You don't stand at the altar unless you're darn sure your better half would be joining you. There they waited. And waited.

  In the end, Cunningham, Gentile and Zekich, I think you got played!

  And that's nothing to Bragg about.
