It Takes a Village!

A big dose of gratitude with helping "pay it forward!"

Just recently, Orland School District 135 earned a special honor from the Illinois General Assembly in the form of House Resolution No. 856. In this resolution they praised Orland 135 for being at the forefront of educating our children in CPR, AED and First Aid.

There are many people to acknowledge for making this possible, and as William Arthur Ward once said, "Feeling gratitude and not expressing it, is like wrapping a present and not giving it."

Thank you to:

-Orland School District 135: Superintendent Dennis Soustek; Dr. Laura Berry; principals Linda Kane, Cindy Finley and Pam Hodgson; school nurses Mary Fox, Marilyn Bucci and Julie Muchna; PE staff Maureen Zopf, Jackie Ripoli and John Mason (I know there's more).

-Orland Fire Protection District: Lt. Mark Duke, paramedic Dave Nagel, and Battalion Chief Mike Schofield

-Orland Park Police Department: Officers Bill Verburg and Chuck Barth

-Silver Cross Hospital: Dr. Dave Mikolajczak

-Northwestern Memorial Hospital: Dr. George Chiampas

-Rep. Daniel J. Burke

-American Heart Association: Alex Meixner and Cathy Latanski

The "Press"

My two sisters: Marilyn O'Sullivan and Carol Siano for their unwavering support, and unconditional love on talking about a subject that is still sometimes painful and emotional for me.

I know there are more people to thank, so I apologize if I forgot to include you.

It really does take a village to raise a child. With the help of the above named individuals, the children of Orland School District 135 now have the skills to save a life, and in turn, help their fellow man, by being good citizens in "paying it forward."

In gratitude,
