The FBI and Video Surveillance: Agents arrested John Sikorski, a 32-year-old Crestwood man, on suspicion he robbed the CNB Bank and Trust earlier this month. Video surveillance captured a detailed image of the robber. The FBI was flooded with tips. (Heck, a tipster even sent Patch an e-mail suggesting the cops take a hard look at Sikorski.)
Bald Eagles: A mated pair of bald eagles are nesting in Palos Township next to . In the last few weeks, eaglets have hatched, making this the first confirmed nesting site in Cook County in more than a century.
Sox Fans and Beer Lovers: Former White Sox slugger Frank Thomas will be in Frankfort on Saturday to tout his new brew, Big Hurt Beer, at Durbin's at 7 p.m. He'll also be at the Tinley Park Brew and Vine Fest at the Tinley Park Convention Center.

Nestle Purina Yam Goods: Orland Park's Dennis Adkins fed his 9-year-old Pomeranian a bag of Yam Good treats for three days. Eleven days later, the pooch was dead. Yam Goods — yams wrapped with chicken — are made in China. Adkins is suing Nestle Purina, maker of Yam Goods.
Teen Booze Bash Hosts: A judge told William and Kimberly Opferman of Tinley Park that he didn't believe their story about how teen-agers snuck into their house on New Year's Even through a basement window and proceeded to re-enact a party scene from Animal House. Judge John Hynes found the couple guilty of unlawfully allowing a minor to become intoxicated and sentenced the Opfermans to 12 months of supervision, 80 hours of community service and $280 each in fines and costs.
Regulars at Tom's Family Restaurant: Some regulars eat three meals a day at Tom's But old age, bad knees and a diminishing passion for the restaurant business have moved Tom Kataras to shut down his restaurant after 65 years of operation. Kataras works six to seven days a week and has been doing so for decades. “When you own a business, you don’t really own the business, the business owns you,” Kataras said. “If I was 100 percent Greek, I’d die behind the register, but I’m only part Greek so I’m getting the hell out of here.”
