Orland Fire Protection District and Treasure Chest Foundation Join Forces to Benefit Children with Cancer
Thanks to the hard work and support of the Orland Fire Protection District, area residents and businesses will once again have an opportunity to support children and teens fighting cancer by donating a new toy or gift during the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation (POTCF) annual holiday toy drive.
The POTCF is a non-profit organization that provides comfort and distraction from painful procedures to children and teens diagnosed with cancer by providing a toy, gift or gift certificate in 45 hospitals nationwide. Nowhere else in the nation does such a program exist. CEO Colleen Kisel founded the organization in 1996 after her then seven-year-old son Martin had been diagnosed with leukemia in 1993. Martin recently celebrated his 19th anniversary of remission from the disease.

“Last year the Orland Park Fire Houses Toy Drive drew a tremendous response that resulted in our collecting an incredible number of toys,” remarked Ms. Kisel. “I anticipate that once again, the generosity of the Orland community and the hard work of the Orland Fire Protection District will mean that thousands of children fighting cancer will be rewarded with a toy for their bravery throughout 2014.”
