More than 20 authors to appear at Southland Author Fair on Sat. Oct. 27 from 9 am to 3 pm

More than 20 Chicago area authors will be featured on Sat. Oct. 27 from 9 am to 3 pm at the Southland Author Fair with crafters at the Orland Park Public Library.

The Orland Park Public Library will host its sixth annual Southland Author Fair on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the library. More than twenty authors from the Chicago area who write for children, teens, and adults will be featured. Several different genres will be represented including historical non-fiction, children’s picture books, romance, and mysteries. This year’s fair will also include several crafters who will demonstrate their handiwork and sell their wares.

All of the authors will be available to talk to individuals about the books they have written, as well as sell and autograph copies of new releases. Aspiring writers, young and old, will have the opportunity to learn how each author decides what to write and how they have successfully published their work. Some of the authors include Orland Park resident Helen Osterman, author of Emma Winberry and the Evil Eye; Mokena resident Patricia Hackel, author of Deadly Refusals; Wheaton resident Karen Halversen Schrek, author of While He Was Away; and Chicago resident Bernard Turner, author of Chicago Neighborhoods with Flavor.

Crafters from two Orland Park businesses Country Cupboard and Knitting, Etc., as well as Graue Mill in Hinsdale, will demonstrate spinning, knitting, and counted cross stitch during the event.
