Orland Township to Host Second Annual "Pet-palooza" on June 16

Orland Township is hosting its second annual "Pet-palooza" on Saturday, June 16, 2012 from noon to 3 p.m.

Last year, Orland Township launched its pet pantry, which provides pet food and supplies to residents in need, so that individuals facing financial difficulty don’t have to give up a family pet. To raise awareness for the pet pantry, as it depends on the generosity of local donators, we embarked on a risky and very time consuming project: the first annual fundraiser, “Pet-palooza”. Many months of planning went into this endeavor and it took a full team effort by the staff of Orland Township, but the end result was spectacular: perfect weather, a great crowd, tasty food from local restaurants, family entertainment and music, appearances by sports mascots like Southpaw, raffles, pet adoptions and most importantly, a generous number of donations for the pantry were collected throughout the day.

Due to the success of the first "Pet-palooza", we’re doing it all again on Saturday, June 16, 2012 from noon to 3 p.m.  It’s hard to top last year but we’ll make it happen. This year’s event is once again free but a donation of one five-pound bag of pet food is encouraged. Monetary donations will also be accepted; all proceeds from the day’s events will go directly towards the pet pantry.

So what do visitors have to look forward to at this year’s "Pet-palooza", which is once again open to well-mannered, leashed and tagged pets?
