Senior Speed Dating with Orland Township

Do you know any seniors who would be interested in speed dating? Orland Township is hosting a free evening of speed dating for seniors 55 and older on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. The event will take place at 94 West Steak & Seafood Restaurant, 15410 S. 94th Avenue.

The speed dating portion of the evening will require participants to move from table to table for five minutes each, in order to acquaint themselves with fellow participants. Complimentary appetizers and soft drinks will be served and a cash bar will be made available. Following the introduction sessions, entertainment will be provided by a local entertainer.

After hearing some great stories, I decided this could be a fun way for township seniors to stay active and to meet new people later in life; I am well aware that it can be equally as important for seniors to stay mentally active as it is to stay physically active. Our older residents still have the need for companionship, love and romance but attaining these things at an older age may be daunting for some.

This upcoming speed dating event is an exciting way to improve the mental health of our senior community, which we hold in high regard. Whether you’re looking simply for companionship or for a new romantic connection, speed dating is essentially just a fun social event to stimulate your brain with conversation.
