Alleged Orland Park Carjacker Tells Prosecutors No Deal

Prosecutors made an offer to an Orland Park man charged with carjacking an elderly woman but he wasn't having it.

By Joseph Hosey

A plea deal from prosecutors wasn't good enough for an Orland Park man charged with breaking an elderly woman's leg during a carjacking in a Walgreen's parking lot.

Attorney Zaid Abdallah told Cook County Judge Colleen Hyland that Peter Sousan wasn't interested in what the state's attorney's office had for him.

"Mr. Sousan does not want to take the offer, your honor," Abdallah said.

Sousan, 25, was arrested within a week of the July 2012 carjacking and has been locked up in the Cook County jail ever since. Sousan allegedly kicked his 88-year-old victim in the leg while stealing her car. The woman's leg reportedly broke in two places.

Assistant State's Attorney James Sarros said he was pulling back the deal rejected by Sousan.
