Cops: Mother of Burglary Suspect Almost Hit Officers With Car

Orland Park officers were nearly hit by an irate woman in her car after her son was arrested in connection with a residential burglary.

Orland Park police officers had to dodge a vehicle driven by an irate woman while they were arresting her son on burglary charges.

Officers were arresting a man near the corner of Lahinch Drive and Dunmurry Drive around 7:30 p.m. on May 21, in connection with an earlier residential burglary call.

After Hasan A. Hadid, 18, was placed in a squad car, officers saw a black sports utility vehicle quickly back out of a driveway on Lahinch Drive and turn around to face the officers. The driver squealed her tires and revved the engine while driving in the direction of two officers, police said.

The SUV swerved back and forth, nearly hitting the two officers, according to the report. The vehicle then drove away from the officers, before coming back near the squad cars and stopping.

The driver, Samar A.R. Hadid, 38, of the 13300 block of Lahinch Drive in Orland Park, started screaming and using profanity when she was told she would be charged for the reckless driving, police said. According to the report, it took two officers to remove Hadid from the SUV and restrain her. Police found she is the mother of one of the suspects in the alleged burglary.

Hadid was injured during the confrontation and was later treated and released from Palos Community Hospital, police said. While at the hospital, she continued to yell and curse, and kept calling the arresting officer Jewish, according to the report. She said she is from Palestine, saying that was why she was arrested by the officer, according to the report.

Hadid was then taken to the Orland Park Police Department, where she did not cooperate with police during processing, though officers told her she would be given a recognizance bond and could leave the station once processed, according to the report.

Hadid was charged with three counts of aggravated assault. She also was charged with resisting arrest, reckless driving and various traffic violations. She is scheduled to be in court on July 19.

Hadid’s son, Hasan A. Hadid, 18, was charged with residential burglary, as was a 17-year-old he was with.
